I didn't pull mine a lot of miles 5,000 or less so I didn't worry about getting it checked. You will take out the king pin so when you are done if you pull it a lot you will need the have the alinement checked. As others have said you need to be able to weld. The easiest way is to cut everything out and start over with new you can buy a new king pin cheap. There is a trick to welding the pin back in to avoid the metal crystalizing and causing issues. good mild steel and a good welder can whack one of these out in about 5 hrs. In this arena I wouldn't enter without a certified welder to take the liability away from the farm. Is it bolt on or welded ? Just bought a bolt on one for tanker. I thought I would check here first to see if anyone has ran into this situation. I have a 86 Wilson Pace Setter grain trailer and after a DOT inspection, noticed that the plate around the king pin is starting to wear through.
